about half an hour ago i wrote the last words of the pensky file. they wont be the last words i write in it, as i have a rather dodgy chapter three to go back and work on, but i have, finally, finished a rather elusive conclusion. it is over 7000 words and 3000 of them i wrote today alone. i couldnt quite pin it down before but from about 8am this morning it has fallen into line. this is what the whole thing looks like:
(excuse blurry mobile phone photo). still messy. still bits to clean up. still that wretched bibliography that endnote is giving me grief about. but nearly there.
i feel a little bit ill. what do you write at the end of a thesis? 'the end'?
i think i need a cup of tea and some knitting...

"love, Me xoxo"
"that's it"
"bugger off, then"
would all be entirely appropriate!Congratulations! Go and have a cup of tea and knit some sock. You've deserved it!
hehe, i like the bugger off option!
Hooray.
The end of the thesis should say "Drink now".
Hoo-Ray!! I wish it was about fish, beacuse then you could write : Fin!!!!!!!
Huzzah! That must be such a load off. Enjoy your tea and knitting...hmmm, that sounds so good I might join you, in a manner of speaking!
Happy dance happy dance yayayayayay!
That would do it!
Bugger the tea. Have a beer. No, a scotch. Or other hard liquor of your choice. That's one massive achievement. Those bits of tinkering will seem like nothing after this. Well done you!
Oh, I'm with Bells, liquor is in order. I shouldn't mention what I did when I was done with my final exams for my first degree, but it involved far more types of liquor than should be mixed and a rather public display of what happens when you mix them.
Of course, I was 21. NOW I'd probably choose tea & knitting!! Congratulations. The fussy bits will get cleaned up--well done, you.
Oh, congratulations!
Nearly there - congratulations!

Holy Schmoly, the last words! That is a of awesome! So proud of you!! yes of course there is some tidying etc but allow yourself to feel the joy of having reached 'the end' of the (draft) complete pensky - major major achievement! Wooohooo. Celebrate in watever way you see fit, even if that is just to knit!
thanks for the lovely comments everyone, stay tuned for the next installment!
Finishing something so momentous is always a bit of a let down... I know Hubby found it difficult. But HUGE congrats on finishing it (pending departmental silliness)!
Check my blog... surprises ;)
